## The Guild's Accord
[Mediation](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mediation&oldid=1376223580) & Dispute Resolution

## Welcome to the central hall of Broom Corners. As with any bustling mercantile, we recognize that even among honorable artisans and well-meaning patrons, misunderstandings may occasionally arise. A binding may come loose in transit, a custom handle may not meet expectations, or a parcel may lose its way along the road.
At **The Broom Squires Marketplace**, we hold our community to the highest standards of the craft. We believe in resolving grievances with the same care, patience, and honesty required to plait a traditional hearth besom.
Should you find yourself in a disagreement regarding a commission, a purchase, or a supplied material, this *Guild Accord* dictates how we shall find a fair and equitable resolution.

## Step 1: The Parley (Direct Communication)
"The hearth is warmest when we speak face-to-face."
Before the Guild intervenes, we ask that buyers and sellers attempt to resolve the matter directly. Our artisans take immense pride in their heritage craft and will generally go to great lengths to ensure their goods bring joy to your home.
**For the Patron (Buyer):** If your good arrives damaged, differs significantly from the artisan's listing, or has not arrived within the promised time, please use the Message the Artisan button on your order ledger. Clearly state your grievance and provide well-lit photographs if a physical defect is present.
**For the Artisan (Seller):** Respond to your patron promptly (within 48 hours). Offer clarity, a replacement, or a refund where appropriate, adhering to your own shop's posted policies.
Over 90% of grievances in Broom Corners are settled amicably at this stage.

## Step 2: Calling the Guild Masters (Mediation)
"When the knot will not untangle, the Guild steps in."
If 72 hours have passed since the initial parley and no agreement has been reached, or if the communication has broken down, either party may request Guild Mediation.
Navigate to your Order Dashboard.
Select the order in question and click the button marked **"Request Guild Mediation."**
A dedicated Guild Administrator from The Broom Squires Marketplace will step in to review the ledger.

## During Mediation:
Our administrators will review all communication sent through the marketplace platform. *(Please note: We cannot mediate promises made via external owls, ravens, or third-party social media messengers).*
We will examine the listing's description, the artisan's shop policies, and the provided evidence.
The Guild acts as a neutral guide, offering compromises, clarifying marketplace rules, and helping both parties navigate toward a mutual agreement.

## Step 3: The Final Accord (Arbitration)
"Striking the anvil to finalize the bond."
If mediation fails to produce an agreement within 7 days, the dispute will escalate to binding Arbitration. At this stage, The Broom Squires Marketplace administration will make a final, binding decision.

## How Decisions are Weighed:
As a marketplace built on authenticity and quality, we protect both our patrons from misrepresentation and our artisans from fraudulent claims.

## When Patrons are Favored:
If an item is proven to be vastly different from its description, made with prohibited materials (e.g., hidden plastics when natural fibers were promised), or never shipped, the Guild will issue a full refund to the patron from the artisan's held funds.

## When Artisans are Favored:
If a custom, personalized commission was fulfilled accurately according to the agreed-upon specifications, or if an item was delayed by external postal couriers beyond the artisan's control, the Guild will uphold the sale.

## *Please note: The decision of the Guild Masters in Arbitration is final. Funds will be released or refunded according to this decree.*

## Code of Conduct During Disputes

To maintain our supportive community, all parties must adhere to the following tenets during any dispute:

## **Honest Dealings**

Do not misrepresent the state of an item or the timeline of a shipment.

## **Respectful Discourse**

We have zero tolerance for aggressive, threatening, or foul language. Any party using such language will have their case instantly ruled against and may face banishment from Broom Corners.

## **Patience**

Craftsmanship takes time, and so does fair judgment. Allow the Guild the time required to review your case thoroughly.
